REST WITH YOGA NIDRA

Yogi and guru, Satyananda Saraswati describes Yoga Nidra as, ‘the yoga of aware sleep [in which] lies the secret of self healing…the distractions of the mind are contained and the mind is relaxed’.

Yoga Nidra is the effortless practice of ‘non-doing’. It can be considered as an accessible form of meditation for the busy modern mind, where we ‘surf’ the threshold between sleep and wakefulness.

Research has shown that Yoga Nidra can help reduce stress, anxiety and depression, improve sleep and reduce pain, even chronic pain. It has been endorsed by the US Army Surgeon General for it’s effectiveness in treating PTSD.

Yoga Nidra can be such a powerful healing tool due to how it helps regulate our brain waves and increase the plasticity of the brain, making us more adaptable. It can re-wire negative thinking patterns and the benefits can be felt after just one session.

Nidra is suitable for all and no previous experience of yoga or meditation is necessary. There is no way to get it wrong.

I often weave Nidra into my sound sessions and also offer one-to-one sessions virtually.

Feel free to get in touch if you’d like to drift in the waves of rest.
